There are more than a few good reasons Qychex Lithium Batteries far exceed the performance of Lead Acid & AGM batteries.  Not only due they weight about 30 to 40% less then the conventional lead acid battery design, but lithium batteries offer better charging efficiency.  With an estimated 3000-5000 life cycles,  our Lithium LiFePO4 batteries are the best choice for your replacement auxiliary batteries.   

Lead Acid Vs Lithium Cold Temperatures:  As it is well-known, Lithium batteries have a much better performance at colder temperatures than lead-acid batteries.  For example, at 0°C lead-acid battery's have a reduced capacity of up to 50%, while a lithium iron phosphate battery is only reduced by up to 10% loss at the same temperature.  But, as with lithium batteries, charging your lithium ion battery below freezing can cause battery capacity loss and shorter cycle life.  Be aware that it is only safe and practical to operate at low temperatures down to -20°C/-4°F.

1. What Type Of Battery Should I Use?

For effective compatibility in off-grid systems or RV Use, we recommend using only Deep Cycle LiFeP04 Lithium Batteries.  Deep cycle batteries are designed for continuous charging and discharging.  A car "Starter Battery", is designed to crank an engine with momentary high loads and for only a few minutes at a time.  This means that car starter batteries cannot be substituted for deep cycle batteries, because car batteries are made for immediate power and not capacity.

2. What Applications Can I Use A Qychex Lithium Battery?

Depending on your electrical systems need, you can use a Qychex Lithium Battery for just about any application that you would normally use a single or multiple Lead Acid, GEL or AGM battery for.  Qychex batteries are commonly used for Marine, RV, Solar Energy Storage, Industrial, Advanced Energy Performance, Golf Carts, ATV, Mobility, UPS, and custom applications.  Just make sure you match up the battery with your current need and or purpose.  

3. Is It True That LiFePO4 Batteries Are More Dangerous Than Lead Acid/AGM?

No, actually, they are much safer than lead acid/AGM batteries.  Plus, a Qychex Lithium Battery has built in protection circuits, called, "Battery Management System".  This prevents a short circuit and they also have under/over voltage protection.  Lead/AGM do not, and flooded lead acid contains sulfuric acid that can spill and harm you, the environment and your equipment.  Lithium batteries are sealed and have no liquids and give off no gasses.

4. What Do I Need To Change In My Electrical System (Car Or RV) To Run Lithium LiFePO4 Batteries?

Short answer, nothing! Just be sure to purchase the right replacement battery. Our Heavy Duty RV Lithium batteries are designed to be used exactly how lead acid batteries are used. Common sources:

  • Alternator: Most alternators will sufficiently charge Qychex RV Lithium LifeP04 Batteries (Not Lithium Ion).

  • Inverter: Set or program your charging voltage system to 13.8v – 14.6v to get the best charge.  For Lithium Ion set or program your charging voltage system to 12.5 - 12. 7.

  • WARNING: Do Not Use Standard Battery Chargers To Charge Lithium Batteries:  We don't recommend using regular Lead Acid, Gel Type, or Standard Battery Chargers, to charge Lithium Batteries.  Lead acid battery charging is very different from CHARGING Li-Ion batteries.  You can damage your lithium batteries or even set them on fire by Over-Charging Them.  It’s cheaper and obviously safer to just use the right battery charger for your battery chemistry and cell array configuration.  

5. Where/How can I mount it?

The batteries can be mounted in just about any direction/position.  We do not recommend mounting the upside down. 

6. How Well Do They Withstand Heat/Cold Temperatures?

Lithium batteries have a larger working temperature range than lead acid/AGM.  They are somewhat effected by extreme heat (over 149F) and cold (below -20F).  However, If it’s cold, simply turn on some accessories and the battery will self-warm itself up, then you may charge the battery or use it directly.  If it is hot, just make sure air can flow around the battery.

7. What Is The Life Expectancy Of The Lithium Battery?

A Qychex LifeP04 Battery can be used for 3000-5000 life cycles.  Depending on usage, this can be 10 years or more.  Lead acid and AGM get roughly 300-500 life cycles before their capacity is reduced substantially.  Therefore, even though there is more upfront cost with lithium batteries, the upgrade saves you a lot of money over time.
